Dr. Edward L. Ayers is a renowned historian and much sought-after speaker. He is one of the "History Guys" on the Virginia Foundation's popular radio show BackStory, heard on public radio outlets and is on the Advisory Committee of Encyclopedia Virginia, also produced by the Virginia Foundation. Currently the President of the University of Richmond, he previously was on the faculty of the University of Virginia and held the post of Dean of the College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
Specializing in the Civil War's impact and legacy, in 1997 Ayers helped found and served as its first Director the Virginia Center for Digital History. He also oversaw the Valley of the Shadow project, popular with both historians and the general public. Ayres received a Bancroft Prize for Distinguished Book in American History and was nominated by a Pulitzer Prize and a National Book Award. His most recent book is American on the Eve of the Civil War, edited with Carolyn Martin.

Tickets: Each table has 10 seats. If you are buying multiple tickets and don't know names of other attendees at this time, fill out the first ticket request completely and then press "duplicate ticket #1."
Any receipt from PayPal or EventBrite is NOT A TICKET. You must have a paper ticket issued by the Book Festival. They can be picked up at the Omni March 22, the morning of the Luncheon, or you can pick them up before then at the VFH offices at 145 Ednam Drive during business hours March 19, 20 or 21. Your seating assignment will be on the back of the ticket.
Parking: Please allow ample time for parking. Free parking is available in the Omni garage. Additional paid parking is available in the Market Street and Water Street garages. Do not park in the Staples lot because they will tow cars.
